December 2015

December was a busy month, as it is with most people. Chris finished his 4th trimester on the 18th, one tri closer to being done with Chiro school! My birthday was on the 16th :( I hate birthdays and getting older. We celebrated Christmas just the two of us for the first time. We went to Arizona for an Abney family reunion.

For my birthday we drove two Waco to see the Magnolia Silos. I love the show Fixer Upper and was so excited to see their store in person. Chris was a good sport and actually found it amusing himself.

The actual store was a lot smaller than I expected but looks like there will be room to expand. It was so crowded which may have contributed to it seeming small. I want to go back once everything has calmed down from the holidays and really be able to look at everything.

Cute little truck in front of the Silos

They have an awesome garden on the grounds and have an area where you can taste and buy local honey and jams.

This was in the garden and was where Santa was for pictures. He wasn't there that day so Chewy got to take his very own Christmas photo. The silos are very dog and family friendly

There were a lot of food trucks within the grounds. We went to the crepe truck and got a cinnamon sugar crepe and a strawberry banana Nutella crepe. I preferred the cinnamon and Chris liked the strawberry one. Win win for both of us.

They had games on the turf and a lot of people brought picnics.

We saw Star Wars twice this month and it did not disappoint either time.  We are both big fans, obviously we have a dog named Chewy. I got a star wars shirt and my inner nerd really came out.

We tried to mix our families traditions since we are both away from family. My family always has a big dinner on Christmas eve and Chris's family always had dinner by candle light so we did both.

crappy iphone pics do not work well in dim lights

My family always got new PJ's to open on christmas eve so we did the same. Chris hates pajamas so he got new shorts and we counted that has his pajamas.
Opening his new watch
Chewy would not budge
I got a kitchen aid. Some serious baking is going to happen

On christmas day it was 75 degrees so we went to the park for a walk and set up the slack line.  It was so weird being able to be outside in t-shirt and shorts for christmas.
Side note-The following day went up to 80 then a cold front hit that night causing 4 tornados in North East Dallas. We were 25 miles away from them thank goodness.

Driving to Arizona. Chris drove the entire 15 hours there and his facial expression shows how he felt about it.

We went on a hike to some caves near Mesa with Chris's immediate family.

It was high 50's low 60's the entire week in AZ. It was about the same temp as Dallas but did not seem as cold. I never realized how much the humidity effects how cold your feel.
