Football

Chris was asked to play in an alumni football game over Thanksgiving break. All the players were from different schools through out the valley and they were given their high school uniform to wear for the game. Chris was excited to put football pads on again but I think I was even more excited too watch him play. I have never seen any pictures of him playing football because he has ZERO pictures! Not from high school and not even college. We have no proof to show our kids that he played. I m glad that we now have some kind of documentation. Its not the same but at least it is something. Now if only I can get him in a Dixie State uniform again we will be set. He was able to play with some of his high school friends and they had a lot of fun. He did really well and it was really fun to watch.

Fall Break

We have been out of school for the last few days for fall break. I hate how they call it Fall "Break" because it is not really a break at all, teachers scheduled tests and quizzes the day we get back. We did find some time for ourselves though. Chris of course went fishing and I tried my hand at being creative. My parents gave me a sewing machine 5 years ago and I have only used it once. Thought this week might be a good time to tune my homemaking skills.

I made a wallet and camera case. I didn't have a pattern for the wallet so it has many flaws and of course it didn't turn out how I had visioned it but it was fun trying.

We can't forget about Chewy! It was so nice this week he just lounged in his pool. He actually has done this every day this summer to cool off I love it.

Rexburg Rush

I competed in my first triathlon and had a blast.  There were four of us from work that did it and I m so glad that we all did because it helped knowing that I was not the only one that had no idea what to expect, that was feeling the butterflies, that got zero sleep from the butterflies, and  felt exhausted afterward. We began training in May with the swim because 3 out of the 4, myself being one of them, had no idea what the heck we were doing in the water. The training was going really good I was enjoying it and beginning to feel confident that I could get myself out of the race alive. Then In July I started my Anatomy class which consumed my life and training became limited therefore I had to fit it in when I could. This meant swimming in between classes and running after midnight because I wouldn't get home until that late. There was no way I could have done it without Chris. He was willing to go on the late night runs with me so I didn't get kidnapped and pushed me to swim in the freezing cold reservoir and made sure I did it and not quit. He was awesome cheering me on throughout the entire race especially during the swim which was the hardest part and hearing him yell got me through it. He let me use his I Pod because I don't have one. I forgot to put it on the workout mix so through the entire bike and run I was jamming out to the Glee soundtrack, John Denver, and Justin Bieber, yes my husband has the Bieber on his I pod.  Bieber was on when I came onto the track for the finish line and it actually gave me a boost and I was able to sprint in. Thankyou Justin Beiber. I m bummed its over I liked having something to work towards and motivate me to stay fit. I can't wait to do another one.

Deer Creek Lake

We went on our first and last camping trip of the year this last week. We went to Deer Creek Lake in Boulder Mtn. Kind of a long drive but worth it. We hiked in few miles and didn't see a single person. We were literally all by ourselves, kind of creepy especially at 2 in the morning when we heard stuff right by our camp. We also hiked into another lake which I forgot to get pictures of and am so mad at myself because it was so pretty. Chris fished almost the whole time and I was able to finally do some leisure reading and read the Hunger Games. Loved them! It was a lot of fun and I look forward to next year so we can actually go more than once.
At the trail head.

We ate the catch one night. It was really good too.

Look What We Found....

Ever since we have been in this house there has been this cat that would come in our backyard from time to time. When we got chewy we would leave his food outside and this cat would eat it. Apparently it thought it was so good it would stay in our backyard permanently. Cats grose me out and I insisted we get rid of it, so we stopped leaving Chewy's  food out there in the hopes it would leave. Did it work? No. We tried to catch it to take it to the Humane Society but it was too wild. It continued to stay in our yard and we continued not feed it. I noticed it was getting rather fat, either it was catching one to many mice in our wood pile or it was pregnant. Sure enough it was pregnant and it had kittens in the bushes. They are just now starting to walk around and I have to admit they are kind of cute, for now. Both Chris and Chewy are beginning to get a little attached but its time the kitty's move on so I guess if anyone wants a kitten you know where to go if not they will be going to the Humane Society.

Girls Trip to St. George

Some of the girls I work with went to St. George a couple of weekends ago. We all love being together outside of work and decided we needed a little vacation together. Lucky for us one of the Doctors that works in our office has a condo in St. George and was nice enough to let us stay there. Ally also happens to be his granddaughter and she was able to get us around town. We laughed a lot, ate good food, and lounged by the pool. It was very relaxing, just what we all needed. We had planned to do so much more but their wasn't enough hours in the day to get it all done so we have to plan another trip. We missed the rest of the girls that weren't able to go and hope they can go next time.

I think the drive down there was my favorite part. It was pretty comical

We went to Grandma Tobbler's bakery. It obviously has really good things to eat. I am in love with their coconut tart. I m still craving it.
Can you tell that we are just a little excited to eat our treats?

Gone Fishn'

Our summer has already started off being very busy so we took the first opportunity we had to go fishing together. I don't really care to fish but I love to just be outside in nature, so it works great for us. I don't remember the place we went but it was about an hour drive and 30 minute walk to get to where the " good" fishing spots were. Chris had success and caught a some fish, so the time it took to get there was worth it. It was a little chilly from time to time but overall is was fun.

One of the fish chris caught

This is right after I yelled at Chewy for eating some kind of wilderness animal poo. Yuck! Whatever it was I think it made him look like one of those evil gremlins.

He got really hot so the first spot we stopped at he ran straight into the river and and just flopped his belly onto the rocks. It looked funny i wish I would have gotten a picture. This was his first hike and he did really good until it was about time to go home. We better get him into shape because that was nothing compared to what we usually do.

Pup's out of the bag

I have been hesitant to post anything about this but pup's out of the bag. As most of you know we are living in Chris's parents house while they are on their mission and the one thing they told us, especially his dad, was to not get a dog. We really had no intentions of getting one considering we are both busy with school, work and the newly married college student budget. One thing most people know about me is that I love dogs, mainly Sh Tzu's. Mostly because I grew up with them and was always attached to them. Some of my best memories growing up has had one of these dogs in them. Which brings me too the wanting one of my own. Chris always looks at the dog classifieds and on thanksgiving he showed me the add for these Sh Tzu puppies reduced price. my heart melted. I begged him to just take me too look no guarantee we would get one. Of course I couldn't just look. Conveniently my birthday and Christmas was coming up so obviously I told chris that he was off the hook for getting me anything for those occasions. I even went as far as to have him forget about getting me anything for valentines. So now I am the proud owner of Chewy named after Chewbacca because I thought he resembled him.
We were so scared to tell Chris's parents, afraid of their reaction it took us two months to tell them! Today was the day and Chris broke the news. His moms reaction was good but of course you can imagine his dads. So glad they finally  know so that when we talk to them on skype I m not panicking trying to hide him and keep him quiet.

These pictures are from a few days after we got him. I ve lost the battery charger to my camera and have not been able to take new pics. He has gotten a little bigger and is sporting a new hairdo ( which was very traumatic for him by the way)
