November 2015

Our Thanksgiving plans went from going to Florida to Austin to just Chris and I to us and the Clarks at our place to the Clarks and Skaggs at our place to all of us at the Skaggs. Phew. Yes it was just as exhausting as it was to say all of that. When we decided that it was just us I ordered the dinner from Kroger since I wasn't feeling like cooking for two or going out for dinner, we have done that before and I didn't much like it. The Clarks and Skaggs, both fellow chiro families from other states were also loners this holiday so we decided to get together. I was expecting everything from Kroger to be warm and ready when we picked it up Thursday. We ordered it from their fancy Boars Head deli/restaurant place that looked legit. NOPE! The food was all pre packaged and cold. Luckily the turkey was cooked but also was cold and needed at least 2.5 hrs in the oven for re-heating. All the food actually had to be heated in the oven. The potatoes were fake so I had to whip up some real ones to make it not taste weird. I wanted it to be a simple hassle free day and it ended up being a hassle anyway and I dirtied just as many dishes had I cooked everything from scratch. Lesson learned. On a brighter side once everything was cooked it tasted fine. It was a cold rainy day so we stayed inside hung out and watched Star Wars

This guy had a birthday Nov 29 (today) we celebrated the day before. He wanted to stay in for his birthday so we ordered take out and hung out at home with just the two of us. Good thing because today on his actual birthday he came down with something. My tree in the background was lacking some lights but it is now complete

October 2015

Beginning of October my mom came out for a few days. The first night she was here we took her to one of our favorite Tex-Mex restaurants, Anameias. She ended up with food poisoning and was up all night throwing up. I felt so bad. Needless to say we have not been back since then. The next few days we shopped, ate out, and relaxed.

 A new gourmet donut shop opened down the street from us so we tried it out. It was adorable.

I got a s'mores and earl gray tea donut, while my mom got a key lime pie  and a cup of mint tea. It was all so good. Thank goodness it is a little pricey because I would go there all the time if it was cheap.


I had to have surgery the end of the month so my parents came out for that.

My mom hung out with me in my bed most of the time. We watched movies, talked, and laughed a lot. I felt bad for my dad, he is not use to sitting and doing nothing but he was a good sport about it. Fox news and Longmire on Netflix helped with that.

My dad was pleasantly happy when we went to eat at Babes Chicken. We went there back when my parents helped us move here. His one request for the weekend was to go back there.

Chris made the football team this year for Chiro games. It was held in Coco Beach Florida again.  Their team ended up taking 3rd in flag football and the school took 3rd overall.

They had perfect weather and spent a lot of their time on the beach. He had a blast. 

September 2015

We went home for Labor Day. We did not document this trip well with picutres.We went to one of my cousins high school football games, had dinner with my families best friends the Crowther's, visited my Papa Ray at the Veterans Home, Chris went fishing daily, and we spent a lot of time with just my immediate family at home.

This was the sunrise when we left Labor day morning. My car said 39 degrees as we were driving away and when we parked our car at home in Dallas my car said 99 degrees.  Big difference. It was hard feeling like it was fall time one day then it still being summer the next.

August 2015

In August Chris had a week off in-between trimesters which happened to fall on our anniversary. 

So we thought we would make a weekend trip to Austin.

Lady Bird Lake/ Auditorium Shores. We fell in love with this park last time we were here so it was a must again.  

We were driving around and came across Zilker Park which was amazing. Very out doorsy and active with a lot of people playing sand volleyball, soccer football, ect. This is our kind of place. It has a really pretty trail that runs along the river. We found this little kayak/boat rental on the side and decided to give it a try. LOVE. We ended up renting a kayak both days we were there, it was so cheap and so fun.

He sat up front the whole time. Whenever he got hot he would look over the edge and want in the water to cool off. That doggie life jacket with a handle was awesome for dipping him in the water.

I got demoted to picture only duty. Fine by me!

Joes Crab Shack where we had the WORST service I have ever witnessed. Chris ended up accidentally leaving his credit card. We went back to get it and needless to say it was gone. Luckily I froze it right when we knew he had left it so no charges were made.

Austin Java- an amazing cafe with the best breakfast. We will be back.

The Colorado River branched off to this little stream called Barton Springs. We parked the kayak, laid out and swam. It was really hot and the water was very welcoming.

Chewy thought he needed the towel more than I did.

July 2015

The 4th of July was really low key for us. Most of our friends were either out of town or with their families for the holiday. We started off going to a park in Coppell where Chris played some pick up football with a group of guys. Chewy had a blast running in and out of the pond, rolling in mud, and of course chasing squirrels. He stunk so bad and had to have serious bath afterward.
After the park we went back to our place and hung out by the pool for a bit. The complex we live at had a barbecue so we partook of the free food there. Score. We ended the night making s'mores city style on our patio and watched fireworks. 

Top Golf is right by our place and this was the first time we went. It was my first golfing experience of any kind as well.  I am way too competitive when it comes to any kind of sports or games and Chis knows this all to well and was giving me a hard time which of course made me even more angry. This picture does not show my real feelings about that moment. By the end of the night it got better and Chris and I were friends again.

June 2015

So excited for Jurassic World. He was OBSESSED with the books and all things dinosaurs as a kid.

We Love love love Bahama Bucks, so does does Chewy-they always give him his very one snowball. 

The Doctor I work for has a house by the lake and he had everyone over for a barbecue. We took his duck hunting boat out. we mostly just paddled around but later did some catfish fishing but I didn't get any pictures of that. That little boat is awesome and very stable. Chris was able to stand and cast his line with no problem. We want one. 

This guy wasn't a fan of sitting inside of the boat but loved sitting on the top of it. He just sat there and watched the Herrings and the other girls that were in the canoe.

The Sunset was AMAZING. I could do this every night. 

May 2015

The day my family left the weather went CRAZY we had thunder storms, tornado watches and warnings throughout the rest of April. At first I found it fascinating. I have never lived in tornado country before so it was exciting watching the news and learning all about them and where they were that day. Storm after storm after storm came producing wind, tornado watches, rain, hail, lighting and thunder like I have never seen. Multiple nights we were awoken from thunder so loud the whole house would shake then all the car alarms would go off. Several times I thought for sure the roof would blow away. A boat storage across the street from us is now destroyed from the horrible winds. We live right by a lake and just Friday they were alerting people they may have to evacuate. Luckily it never came to that. We saw the sun maybe 2-3 times in 6 weeks. We are sunshine people, seasonal depression is real! Between the thunder and chewy being so freaked about by the thunder and lighting we didn't get any sleep at night. So glad its over now, we were about to loose our minds.

We did manage to escape the beginning of May to Austin before the weather took a turn for the worst.  It was a last minute trip before Chris started his summer classes. We spent most of our time downtown Austin along the Colorado River. It has the most amazing leash free dog park with squirrels every where, dogs chasing balls or Frisbees, and swimming in the river to cool off. It is what I imagine dog heaven to look like. We walked from there to a farmers market, cafe and a lot of shops. Every restaurant or cafe we went to had the best food. We were not disappointed. We tried seeing the bats our last night there but they were shy. Apparently its a big tourist sight we are going to try to catch them next time.

this restaurant is obviously outdoors and had live music. It had the funnest vibe and I definitely felt like I was in the south which I loved. 

The bridge lit up is where the bats come every night April- August from 6-9 pm. We got there about 8:15 and some people had been there since 6 with no sign of the bats. We hung out until about 9:30 then decided we were done waiting. Next time.
